Steven Terrill Keate died Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at his home in Washington, Utah.   Born July 1, 1963 to Sharon LaRae Holt and Terrill William Keate while his father was stationed at Travis Air Force base in Vacaville, CA.  He started early doing life on his own terms, coming a month early.  Steve had a superb sense of humor and quick wit.  He loved to lighten moods and situations making people smile and belly laugh.  He had serious struggles he worked at his whole life attempting to control.   Those closest to him have a heavy heart knowing he is no longer struggling but ache over the loss of his humorous spirit.  His daughter shared, things weren’t always easy, but the love was real.

Steve was raised in CA., Dugway and WVC Ut., where he graduated from Granite High.  There he met Cindy Christensen and married Nov. 14, 1981.  They had two children Devin (Ali) Keate, of Orlando Fl and Whitney (Kolten) Meik of SLC, Ut.  Later divorced.  Steve was employed for years by First Health in Telecommunications.  There he met Amy Buckley and married Sept. 19, 1992.  They had one daughter, Kayla Keate of Logan, Ut.    Later divorced.

Steve moved to Washington, Utah to be near his parents where he worked for RAM for many years.  His children are grateful for their grandfather’s support of their Dad in his final years.  He is survived by his Father, sister Lisa Michelle (Greg) Wayman of Centerville, his children, 3 grandchildren, Zoey and Mila Keate and Kyler Meik, 2 nieces and a nephew.  Steve is preceded in death by his mother, grandparents and special friends and family members including a dear cousin Cris Griffith.

A viewing will be held Thurs. evening Jan. 25th from 6-7 p.m.   Taylorsville North Stake Center, 1250 Atherton Drive, Taylorsville, Utah.  His children invite all to stay for his favorite, spice cake and ice cream, and share memories of their father at 7 p.m.   Please come and lift our spirits with stories of your time with our Dad.  In lieu of flowers, please hug your loved ones and take time to sit with anyone you know who may be struggling at this time.  We never know the burdens of this life one is carrying.
