Steve Madsen, 75, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep April 11, 2025. He was dearly loved and will be missed so much. Steve was born in Chippewa Falls, WI on September 30, 1949, the son of Ernest and Maurietta (Klemke) Madsen. His carefree childhood memories always made him smile. He loved hunting, fishing, and sports. When he was a sophomore in high school, his family moved to Reedsburg where he excelled in football, basketball and tennis. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL. Steve was on Concordia's varsity tennis team that won many championships and he was recently inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame. He met his wife Pat at Concordia and they were married during their Senior Year on December 19, 1970. After getting married, Steve & Pat spent their summers camping, roadtripping, and exploring in their bright yellow 1971 Chevy Vega. Their first teaching jobs were at Lutheran Schools in Buckley and Rochelle, IL during which time they were blessed with a daughter and son. Steve will forever be remembered as a very beloved teacher and inspiring sports coach. After being in Illinois for way too many years, it was time to move the family back to Wisconsin. As there were no teaching jobs available at the time, Steve became a dedicated and caring District Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans. We moved to Richland Center in the beautiful hills and valleys of SW Wisconsin, which reminded Steve of the mountains he loved. 41 years later we still love our choice! Family was a top priority for Steve and he was always so proud of his kids. He was a very supportive and loving Dad who instilled in them his down-to-earth values. His three granddaughters loved Papa SO much and they made him so happy. Steve's enjoyment and appreciation of nature and participating in lots of outdoor activities have been a role model for the family and started many traditions.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Pat, daughter Angela (Brandon) Wilson, son Nate (Nicole) Madsen, precious granddaughters Sienna Wilson, Helene and Sloane Madsen. His siblings Dick (Barb) Madsen, Judy (Jeff) Wilcox, Jim (Carolyn) Madsen, Mark (Ellen) Madsen. Brothers-in-laws Dave (MaryAnn) Lillich, Ron (Monica) Lillich, Brian Roderick, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Many good memories of our years in Rochelle. He was a great influence on my children, Karen (grad of Concordia, River Forest) and Douglas (a math professor in MN). Dick has been gone since 2014. Sharon Anderson
