Steve Alfred Meilhammer, 74, passed away on August 11 th , 2025, at his home in Hebron,

Maryland. He was born on December 26 th , 1950, to the late Alfred and Mabel Meilhammer.

He attended St. Francis De Sales, then Wicomico High School in Salisbury, where he excelled in

baseball. He had a successful career in construction, starting out building condominiums in

Ocean City, Maryland. He then went on to start his own construction company, Meilhammer

Construction. He had a true entrepreneurial spirit. In May of 1980, he opened Mel's Seafood in

Hebron, Maryland. That spirit also led him to acquire other businesses including Chelsea Court

Apartments and Water Tower Self Storage in Salisbury.

Steve is survived by his children, Steve Meilhammer, Jr., Nicole Meilhammer and Lori

Meilhammer, all of Salisbury. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Whitney Meilhammer,

Steven Meilhammer, Casey Sessoms, Camryn Sessoms, Stiles Gaskins, Sierra Gaskins, Sydney

Gaskins and Nathan Smart. Brothers and sisters Joe (Linda) Meilhammer, Jeff (April)

Meilhammer, Elaine (Jack) Baumann, Cathy Melson, Cecelia Hales, Grace Prettyman and Lisa

(Darryl) Vickers and a special friend Cassie Locke

He was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta Meilhammer, brothers Kenneth Meilhammer

and Tom Meilhammer.

He was a dedicated family man making sure everyone was taken care of. He loved his children

and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He had a sharp sense of humor,

something that will be missed by many.

Services are private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made

to Coastal Hospice in his memory.
