Steve Allen Murphy, 75 years of age passed away 7/15/2025 at the Bethany House in Auburn Ala after a short illness. Steve was born 7/7/1950 to Edward. L. Murphy, Sr and Mabel Morrison Murphy. Per Steve's request there will be no service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward L. Murphy, Jr; his mother-in-law Gertha Dykes; sister-in-law Edna Boutwell; brother-in-law Farrell Boutwell; and his longtime friends, Gordon Kenyon, Sr., and James Gresham; in addition to many cousins and friends.
Steve leaves his wife of 57 years Mary Sasser Murphy; his daughters, Kristi Murphy Chaffin (husband Marc who Steve considered his son), and Kerri Murphy Woodall; his grandchildren, Cameron Kelly, Sean Kelly (fiancé Briana), Cale Dansby, and Hannah Dansby; 4 great grandchildren; his brother Michael Murphy and wife Donna; brother-in-law James Sasser (Barbara); his precious dog Lil Man; our bonus family of 45 + years the Kenyons; along with many cousins and friends.
Steve was a Brick Mason until his retirement in 2005.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice, also special thanks to his nurse April and Ms. Judy and all the other staff of Bethany House.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Bethany House in memory of Steve Murphy are appreciated.
