We are heartbroken to share the passing of Steve Peters, beloved husband to Colleen Rogers Peters, father to Nicholas and Haylee Peters, brother of 7, and friend to all, passed August 7, 2025 at the age of 65. Steven was born in Salt Lake City Utah on August 5, 1960 to Beverly and Robert Peters. After his mother's passing at a young age, Stevens father remarried Barbra Hyman Peters who stepped right into being his mother. Steven was known for his light of positivity and bringing that light into other lives, his art and sign designs all throughout the valley, and passing out his hand folded cranes for hope to all those he met. Steve lived a full and adventurous life in Salt Lake City, Utah. He found true joy in the great outdoors-whether by camping with his wife and family or having a roaring fire in his backyard. He had fondness for "Smokey the Bear", his quiet nod to the forests and mountains that spoke to him. With an easy smile and a knack for conversation, Steve connected effortlessly with everyone he met. While also being stubborn and set in his ways and always up to cause a little commotion. Steven loved telling stories of his siblings and their wild childhood and all the trouble they would get in. From throwing snowballs at cars, climbing and falling out of trees, and riding their bikes causing chaos around the neighborhood. He graduated from Brighton high school in 1978 and attended 2 years at Salt Lake City Community College before falling into his career as an artist. He fell in love young and married wife Collen on October 9, 1982, and has had a beautiful 43-year marriage and partnership. As an artist and graphic designer, he has worked throughout the valley to design the signs we drive past every day, leaving behind a beautiful legacy. He had a passion for whittling wood, crafting structures for his wife's newest addition to the garden, putting together a puzzle, building rockets to send to space at the salt flats, and puttering around his Club Shed on miscellaneous projects. At home, Steve's happiest moments were tending the garden with Colleen, his soulmate and constant companion. Their backyard was not just a patch of earth-it was a sanctuary they built together, filled with love, memories, and laughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Beverly, and Barbra, his sister Susan (Steve), brother Greg (Lisa). He is survived by his wife Colleen, children Nicholas and Haylee, and siblings David (Myrella), Bill, (Lareen), Becky (Ronald), Jim (Michelle), and Jason (Carolyn). Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Friday August 15, 2025 at Christ United Methodist Church 2375 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84106 . With a celebration of life following the service, information for the celebration of life will be provided at the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Huntsman Cancer Institute, a cause close our hearts after Stevens 2 year battle of cancer - https://give.cancerresearch.org/site/Donation2?df_id=2560&mfc_pref=T&2560.donation=form1&msclkid=0c1cc5bab4671d1a9b0cad21ef54586c&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=General%20%7C%20Honor%2FMemorial%20Donations&utm_term=cancer%20donate%20in%20honor&utm_content=Memorial%20Giving%20-%20Broad
