Steve Ruffin, age 69 of Gatesville, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2024 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery.
Steve was born on November 14, 1954 to Johnnie and Reva Ross Ruffin in Owensboro, Kentucky. He grew up and attended school in Copperas Cove. In 1978, he married Lavonne Moore and together, they made their home in Gatesville, where they raised three children. Steve owned and operated skating rinks in both Copperas Cove and Killeen. He was also an over the road truck driver for several years. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing the guitar, and playing golf. He was a happy father who loved his children and grandchildren. If Steve loved you, he loved you with his whole heart, and you knew it.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Ruffin; son, Adam Ruffin; brothers, John Ross Ruffin and Jack Ruffin; and grandson, Austin Ruffin.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonne Moore Ruffin of 46 years; children, Stephen Ruffin and wife, Ashley, and Aaron Ruffin; mother, Reva Ruffin; sisters, Angela Loullis, Trish Thompson, and Linda Nyberg; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
