Steve was born on January 8, 1950, in Pana, IL, the son of Lyle E. and Frances Y. (Landers) Ruot. He married Kay West on September 21, 1985 in Moweaqua, IL. She survives.
Steve worked various jobs, but enjoyed being a mail carrier the most. He was a former Moweaqua Village Board Member as well as former Moweaqua Village Mayor. First and foremost, Steve loved his family. He loved coaching and playing softball, traveling with friends and family to Las Vegas and Tunica, MS, taking canoe and ski trips, visiting wineries, but most of all he loved to be a chauffeur and attend his grandchildren's activities. Steve and Kay enjoyed scouting out new watering holes, enjoying time with their Danville friends and family, and always looked forward to Morning Coffees and Friday Night Friends.
Surviving are his wife, Kay; son, Ryan (Angie) Ruot of Assumption, IL; daughter, Lindsay (Lane) Miller of Moweaqua; grandchildren: Jazmyne Marie, Harper Douglas, and Benjamin Dean; brothers: Chuck (Mary Sue) Ruot of Vandalia, IL and Dennie (Cindy) Ruot of Macon, IL; and sister, Charlene (Frank) Conaway of Oreana, IL.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
