Steve Tabaczynski, age 90 of Howell, formerly of Sandusky, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Friday, January 10, 2025.
He was born on May 18, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Steve and Catherine (Makowski) Tabaczynski. He married the love of his life, Gisela Burda on October 28, 1957, in Darmstadt, Germany where Steve was stationed as a young noncommissioned officer in the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his son Hans Tabaczynski, his brothers Francis S. Tabaczynski and Frank J. Tabaczynski, sister-in-law Elaine Tabaczynski and his aforementioned parents.
He is survived by his son Thomas Tabaczynski (Teresa Tabaczynski, RN) of Howell; his grandchildren, Brandon Tabaczynski, Zacharey Tabaczynski, Joshua Bost (Tara Roberts), Joesph Bost (Samatha Mannor), Terri Matthews Wagner, Angie Helton, Steve Helton and his brother Gregory Tabaczynski of Clinton Township. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
He was an avid and excellent gardener, loved old western movies, enjoyed woodworking, a devoted Detroit Tigers fan and spending time with family and friends. He is a Vietnam veteran having served in the US Army for over 20 years. After his retirement worked as a civil servant for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Saudi Arabia and for the United States Navy in Washington D.C. Steve and his wife were world travelers having lived or visited numerous places throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Steve's Community Farewell will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 3PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell Memorial Chapel with a gathering beginning at 2PM until the time of service. His final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Wounded Warriors Project or Howell VFW.
