Steve Joseph Thibodeaux, Sr., a dedicated and skilled tradesman, passed away at his residence in Melville, Louisiana, on July 20, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on April 30, 1957, in Rayne, Louisiana, to Gerald Thibodeaux and Mary “Wilma” Matte.
Steve was a remarkable plumber for most of his life for the Town of Melville and also helped many people in the community. He worked many years as a farm worker on various farms. He was well known and loved by all who knew him.
Steve served his country proudly in the Army. An avid reader, Steve found joy and peace within the pages of books serving as his down time after a day of work.
Steve leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and a commitment to excellence that will be remembered by all who knew him. His impact will endure in the hearts of family, friends, and colleagues alike.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Thibodeaux, Jr. (Matthew), Eric Thibodeaux, and David Ware; his daughters, Dawn Thibodeaux Brown (Michael), and Heather Ghimire (Sam); brothers, Kevin Willett (Dahn) and Chris Willett; sister, Joan Thibodeaux; 12 grandchildren: Kirsten Casse, Jason Adams, Jr., Hunter Adams, Avery Grantham, Briley Adams, Alivia Francios, Dallas Francios, Dylan Francios, Camryn Francios, Darien Ware, Drake Ware, and Brylee Ware; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his late wife, Denise Murphy Thibodeaux; his mother, Mary “Wilma” Matte; and father, Gerald Thibodeaux; and brother, John Thibodeaux.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Lowery Family, Brandon and Sharon Lowrey. He worked with them for many years on the farm.
