Ann: I trust that prayer and fond memories will help to deal with your loss. While Steve and I often had disagreements, I always respected his insights and advice. His dedication to his country always came through in his perspectives and I greatly appreciated that. I can only offer you my prayers and wish you the best. May he rest in peace.

While I only knew Steve for 8 years or so, he has left an indelible memory. His dedication to Treasure Lake, his corny sense of humor, him always being available for "consultation" regarding Board business, his dedication to transparency by the Board for all Treasure Lake Property Owners, his distinct voice, these are unforgettable. Ann, you have my sincerest, heartfelt condolences. Joe Krill

Steve Tuller was a mentor, friend and the best boss I ever had. I was a Naval Engineer working in Medical Administration among health and safety specialists which sounds unusual unless you knew Steve. He wanted someone outside of the health and safety field to bring perspective from the "field". He wanted to make the best decisions he could, so he didn´t surround himself with "Yes Men", but with people that brought a variety of experience, not afraid to tell him their opinions and suggestions. Before I reported into the position in Medical Administration at Maintenance and Logistics Command Pacific, I received a phone call from a friend. She asked, "Who did you piss off to get assigned to work for Steve Tuller?" You see, Steve had a reputation in the Coast Guard. He was tough, cantankerous, often abrasive, and had a dry wit that some found disconcerting. He made any memo or correspondence submitted from his staff bleed with his corrections. I was told that my predecessor developed a facial tic. As you can imagine, I was apprehensive about working for Mr. Tuller. What I found was a tough, uncompromising taskmaster that demanded the best from his staff, argued (a lot) but respected their opinions if they gave him solid reasoning and research. I had just delivered my youngest daughter while working for him and was on my third week of a six week maternity leave, when I received a call from Mr. Tuller. He wanted to have a meeting and needed me to be there. I thought `not again´. You see, my first maternity leave was cut short at a previous command which devastated me. Well, Steve went on to ask me if he could have the meeting at my house so that I wouldn´t be separated from my daughter. So the staff came over bringing bagels and smear. In fact, my daughter woke hungry during the meeting and I went up to the loft to breastfeed while yelling down my input. In my previous experience of an interrupted maternity leave, I was valuable. With Steve Tuller, I was not only valuable, but valued. He was challenging and unforgettable to work for and I missed him terribly when he and Anne moved to Pennsylvania. My sincere condolences to Anne and his family.
