Funeral service for Steve Woodard, 76, will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lance Blackburn,Bro. Bill Hall and David Parr officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Woodard died on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born January 2, 1947, in Cullman County, to Jimmy Woodard and Votis Mavanell Brown Woodard.
Mr. Woodard was a member of the Westview Church of Christ. He retired from Amoco Chemical Company after 32 years of service. He was a 1964 graduate, of West Point High School, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He was inducted in the Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. Steve carried his love for ball into coaching many Dixie Youth and American Legion teams for his son, Stevie. He had a great love for sports and particularly the Dodgers.
Steve was a hardworking man and loved his family, especially his Grandchildren and going on their activities as long as he possibly could. He also loved to go on hunting trips with his friends. Many thanks to family and friends who supported us through the hard times, especially Sandra Meadows, Mickey Hembree and Ronald Britnell.
Survivors include
Wife - Sherry Woodard
Son - Steve Woodard, Jr. (Brooke)
Daughter - Dr. Shanna Shumaker (Chris)
Six Grandchildren -
Mackenzie Shumaker, Davis Shumaker, Hattie Shumaker,
Virginia Shumaker, Parker Sawyer and Preston Sawyer.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Hembree, Ronald Britnell, Jim Meadows, Jimmy Bone,
David Parr, Nathan Whitfield, Bob Young and Jamie Roden.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Sims and Dale Belcher.
