Indianapolis, IN - Steven Terry Allen died peacefully on January 3, 2024 in Indianapolis, IN at the age of 78.
Steven is survived by his wife, Sandra Gay (Coen) Allen; children, Sarah Claudine Allen, Dorothy Roberta (Allen) Vanderpohl, Scott Joseph Allen and his Spouse Brittany Allen; siblings, Stanley Allen and his wife Rosalie Allen and Barbara Kay Allen; grandchildren, Matthew Vanderpohl, Amber Vanderpohl and Caleb Allen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Joseph and Barbara Claudine (Manley) Allen.
Steven was born on August 16, 1945 in Greensburg, IN to Walter Joseph and Barbara Claudine Allen. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1963. He married Sandra Gay (Coen) Allen on April 5, 1980 at Garfield Heights Church of Christ in Indianapolis, IN. Steven began working for Con-Agra, where after 40+ years, retired. During that time, Steven also served in the United States Navy for a year.
Steven was passionate about gardening, traveling, collecting his birdhouses and often would find him playing card games online. He never turned down a good political debate. He was a generous, witty and dedicated individual who loved Sandra's cooking, summertime, hanging out in his backyard with his family and dogs. He was known to have a sweet tooth and a love for afternoon naps. He was skilled at a multitude of things and if he didn't have the skill, he would figure it out. As much as Steven loved to travel and visit the beach, some of his favorite things were his Mom's blackberry cobbler, Christmas with his family and God.
His children remember him as a strong, loving, loyal father who was always up for a conversation or to lend a helping hand and could fix just about anything.
Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Father Bob Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery, 2703 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225.
