Steven A. Athanas
January 6, 1966 – June 24, 2025
Steven A. Athanas, 59, passed away on June 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted father, hardworking business owner, and passionate Chicago sports fan, Steve lived his life with integrity, warmth, and a sense of humor that touched everyone who knew him.
Born on January 6, 1966 to Angelo Athanas and Kathy Athanas (née Peeples), Steve built a life rooted in family, friendship, and a strong work ethic. He was the proud owner of A&A Cabinets Inc. for 31 years, where he put his craftsmanship and dedication into every project, earning the respect and loyalty of his customers and community.
Steve's greatest pride was his children, Luke Athanas (28) and Haili Athanas (27), who carry forward his strength, kindness, and love for life.
Steve is survived by his two brothers, Tony and Angelo Athanas, who stood by him throughout life as brothers and friends.
A lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs, Steve rarely missed a game and always believed that "this year could be the year." He also found joy in simpler pleasures-shooting pool at the local bar with friends, casting a line out on the water while fishing, and sharing stories and laughter with those around him.
Steve will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory lives on in the lives he touched and the legacy he built through hard work, love, and a life well-lived.
