Steven A. Banter, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, in his hometown of Marion, Indiana, at the age of 62. Born on August 21, 1962, in Marion, Steven dedicated his life to both his family and his career in maintenance at General Motors, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Banter, and his stepsons, Delorean Cannon and William McCarty, as well as his stepdaughters, Amber McCarty and Paula McCarty. Steven was a source of pride for his siblings, Kathy (Andy) Neal, John Banter, and Jim Banter. He held a special place in the heart of his mother-in-law, Vickey Hall, and he will be dearly missed by his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, James Bradley, and his mother, Dana Jane Banter. He also mourned the loss of his brother, Matt Banter, and his father-in-law, Tim Hall.

Outside of his professional life, Steven had a deep passion for playing pool. He traveled extensively across the United States, engaging in numerous pool tournaments, where he not only showcased his skill but also built friendships that he cherished throughout his life. His artistic talents also extended to building and repairing pool cues, which demonstrated his dedication and craftsmanship. Additionally, he took pride in his collections of pocketknives, particularly those made by Case and Buck, and an impressive assortment of fountain pens.

His warm spirit and love for those around him will be remembered fondly, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

In honor of Steven's wishes there will be no services held. Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home has been entrusted with Steven's final arrangements.
