Steven Joseph Boyd, better known as Steve, a beloved husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, devoted member of his community, and passionate farmer, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at the age of 74. Steve was born on November 10, 1951, in Washington the son of Robert D. and Mary Laverne (Mangin) Boyd. He married Karen Cosby on June 6, 1970.
Steve was a man of deep faith and conviction, actively participating in the life of Bethany Church, where he shared not only his love for the Lord but also his incredible spirit with those around him. His dedication to his church and the community inspired many, and his warm heart touched countless lives. Steve also served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
Farming was not just a profession for Steve; it was his lifelong passion. As the owner and operator of Boyd and Sons and Bobcat of Daviess County, he committed himself to improving the land he loved, and he took immense pride in cultivating his farm. He also cherished each and every one of his many employees and considered them family.
A ten-time National Tractor Pulling Champion, Steve found joy in the thrill of competition and in the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts.
Survivors include his wife Karen Boyd of Washington, sons Mike Boyd and his wife Maegan, Greg Boyd and his wife Jennifer both of Washington; brother, Tom Boyd and his wife Marsha of Washington; his grandchildren, Ashley Igleheart and her husband Kasey, Andrew Boyd and his wife Hannah, Austin Boyd and his wife Katie, Alex Boyd and his fiancee Jade Browning, Aiden Boyd; step grandchildren, Eden and Owen McPherson; his great grandchildren, Elle, Ava, and Bentley Igleheart, Emma, Lane and Lily Boyd and Baylee Boyd. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Laverne Boyd.
Friends may visit with Steve's family from 2-8 pm on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Bethany Christian Church, 1139 Highway 57, Washington, IN and from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the church. Pastor Matt Merold will officiate and Steve will be laid to rest in Sugarland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Steve's name to Bethany Christian Church Building Fund. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Steve and his family.
