Steven John Caron passed away on August 21, 2023, after a private cancer battle. He was born in Royal Oak on May 12, 1968, and was 55 years old.
He was raised in Clawson, attended Clawson High School, and then went on to Wayne State University. Steven had a successful career in telecommunications where his expertise and problem-solving abilities were an asset to all the companies he worked for. He was immensely proud of the career he built.
Steven was a fanatical film/tv collector and home theater enthusiast who took his passion very seriously. He loved gaming, was extremely witty and loved a good debate. He loved to cook and was always out of counter space when he was done preparing a meal. He enjoyed traveling and had a true love for the East Coast, where he and his wife planned to retire one day. Steven was also a loving cat dad to Josette and Nala. Above all else, Steve was a truly amazing person, who loved and cared deeply for all of those in his life.
Steven is survived by his wife of 16 years, Karin, his parents Raymond & Ellise, his twin brother Andrew, his brother Marty (Marianna), his sister Rebecca (Bill) and his niece Ava and nephew Alec.
For those who wish to attend, a funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 31st at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Clawson at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am. There will be no reception following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Michigan Humane, where both Josette and Nala were adopted or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.

I was lucky to meet Steve when I started at Cogent in 2012. We talked often, over the course of many years. He taught me a lot and I could not have had such a great team of it wasn't for his assistance and insight. Work aside, we also had a lot of good shares about home improvements or fun travels either of us had experienced. That would get us REALLY chatting. My heart goes out to Steve's family and friends. I know he will be missed dearly. My last conversation with him in May was a parting of ways but I had truly had hoped our paths would cross again soon.

Steve was not just a co-worker but a friend! My 7 years working side by side with him, were filled with many laughs and stories. It is awesome when you find someone you enjoy working with! He taught me so much at Cogent. He is greatly missed! My prayers go out to Karin and the rest of the family.

It was a pleasure to work with Steve at Cogent Communications over the past 16-years. His expertise and knowledge helped me learn so much when he was assisting customers. It was always a joy working with him. The loss of Steve is felt by many; thinking of his family during this difficult time and wishing you hope in the midst of sorrow, comfort in the midst of pain.
