Steven M. "Steve" Christensen ~ Born February 10th,1957 to Helen "Maxine" and George Christensen in Monticello, Indiana, Steve graduated in 1975 from Twin Lakes High School. He then joined the United States Air Force and worked in law enforcement. After receiving honorable discharge, then working a few months at McGill Bearing, Steve joined one of his brothers in moving to Houston in the early 80's. Starting-off as a salesperson Steve worked the next 10 years with the Demontrond Automotive Group, learning all the ropes, excelling, receiving promotions, managing the Finance and then RV divisions. During this time Steve earned certification with General Motors Holding Company to become a General Motors dealer. Being intrigued by "the other side of the desk" though and wishing to have more time off vs spending the duration of his career working retail hours, Steve then joined the sales team of Ganis Credit Corporation (later a part of GE Finance). There he found his niche as sales manager of a multi-state territory in recreational finance, working with RV dealers. Being a people-person, charming & witty, with his diligent work ethic and convenient fondness of golf, Steve had a very rewarding career that he truly enjoyed, until being forced to retire early for health reasons. Some of Steve's favorite things were the outdoors, animals, fishing, building things, sunshine, entertaining friends, and March Madness. Steve was kind, compassionate, and he loved taking care of his family. Steve's last earthly breath signified release from the years-long grip and devastation of Frontotemporal Degeneration/Dementia. Having fought hard and preceded in death by his father, Steve passed away January 5th, 2024, peacefully at home with his wife and their son & daughter at his side. Steve's legacy will be carried on by his wife, Jeanette, and children, Anise & Jakob. Steve is also survived by his loving mother, Maxine Alspaugh, 2 brothers, William "Bill" Christensen & Richard "Rev C" Christensen and their families. Family and friends are invited for an exciting send-off & celebration of Steve, and his freedom, the evening of his 67th birthday, February 10, 2024 at The Lodge at Turkey Cove, 5:00 - 7:00. In lieu of flowers please donate to AFTD – The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration or AFSP's Hike for Hope Galveston.
