Obituary – Steven Byron Cutchin
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Byron Cutchin, who died on June 4, 2025 at the age of 79. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and decorated veteran, Steve leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication to his loved ones and to his country.
Steve was born January 28, 1946 to Roy and Edna Cutchin and grew up in Seale, AL. He was a proud graduate of Auburn University and served his country in Vietnam as a captain in the United States army. After his honorable discharge from the military, he built a career as a corporate vice president at Swiss Reinsurance.
Steve was married to his beloved wife Cheryl for almost 56 years. Together, they built a life full of joy and laughter, raising two children, Laura Cutchin Herring and David Cutchin. Later, he found great fulfillment and happiness in his four grandchildren: Savanna, Owen, Steven, and Holden.
Steve was a faithful member of Winder First United Methodist Church, where he volunteered and attended regularly. In his free time, he enjoyed sailing, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Steve is survived by his wife Cheryl, his daughter Laura and son-in-law Michael, his son David and daughter-in-law Brooke, and his four cherished grandchildren: Savanna, Owen, Steven, and Holden. He also leaves behind his brother Roy David Cutchin (Stella) and his sister Lydia Cutchin Starke (Wendell) and their families.
Celebration of Life will be held at Winder First United Methodist Church on June 21 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winder First United Methodist Church (winderfumc.com) 280 N.
