Steven Paul Cybulski, 56, passed away on June 1, 2025 at 1:57pm at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
Steve was born in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California on May 7, 1969 to Sandra Annette Wotruba and Richard Herbert Webb. He and his three brothers were adopted by Sandra's second husband, Edmund Cybulski on June 22, 1977. During Steve's childhood, he moved several times, allowing him to experience several parts of the country, including Hawaii, Chicago, Missouri, Utah, and eventually St. Augustine, Florida.
Steve attended St. Augustine High School where he played drums for the marching band. He then went on to receive his Associate's Degree in music from Florida Community College of Jacksonville and played for the college's jazz band. He continued on in his education at the University of North Florida, but did not finish his bachelor's degree, opting to focus on his career and family life.
During his high school years, he and Alycen King formed the band Barely Legal, in which he officially learned how to play the bass, starting his lifelong music career in several bands. Throughout his life, his projects included the likes of Pretty Boy Freud, Cookie Bush, El Toro Loco, First Coast Steel, and several others. He participated in the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, the opening of the Times Union Center, the opening of Jax Beaches, the Blue Crab Festival, the Savannah Jazz Festival, Jacksonville Jaguars games, the Gate River Run, and many other events throughout his community and the Eastern States.
Outside of his love for music, Steve spent much of his life surfing, enjoying breakfast food, and fishing with the people he loved.
Steve married Alycen King on May 7, 1988. They had two children together, Sean Anthony Cybulski and Jazmin Melody Searle (née Cybulski).
Steve was preceded in death by his sisters Christine Loveland (née Webb) and Cheryl Webb, his brother in law, Gene Loveland, and his mother Sandra Cybulski (née Wotruba). Steve is survived by his children Sean Cybulski and Jazmin Searle (Hunter); his granddaughter Evelyn Searle; his brothers Richard Cybulski (Laurie), Kenneth Cybulski (Shelley), and Daniel Cybulski (Jeanne); his Aunt Laurel Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Two services will be held in Steve's honor. The first will be a memorial service on June 30 at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 7665 Fort Caroline Road Jacksonville, Florida 32277. The second service will be a Celebration of Life that evening at 112 Crouse Ln Florahome, FL 32140 on June 30 at 5:00pm. During this second service, we will be raising funds to donate to the organization Peace Through Music International in Steve's name.
