Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wooster Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Elmore City on Dec. 23, 2025.
Steven Richard "Gary" Davis was born on September 3, 1978, in
Moore, Oklahoma, and was raised by his mother Heather Colleen Gary and stepfather, David Henry Davis He passed from this life on December 20, 2025, in
Yukon, Oklahoma.
Steven grew up in
Elmore City, Oklahoma, where he built lifelong friendships and a deep love for the outdoors. From an early age, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing basketball, disc golf, and "pond hopping" with his close friend Brian Mathis. He especially loved deer season-not just the hunt, but cooking what he harvested, smoking meat on the grill, and making deer jerky and sausage for family and friends. Steven graduated from Elmore City High School in 1998.
In 1998, Steven met Esther Jones, and together they welcomed three children: Skylar Davis, Crystal Davis, and Sunny Davis. Though they later separated in 2008, Steven remained a devoted father. In January of 2009, Steven met the love of his life, Amy Moore. They began their life together on January 22, 2009, blending their families and adding Brandone Johnson, Tyler Johnson, and Jayden Johnson to their home.
Steven was a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did. He worked for Burk Brothers Roofing before joining OG&E as part of the Energy Assistance Program, helping families by installing attic improvements to meet safety and efficiency requirements. His true calling, however, was found in his most recent role as Sexton for Mount Olivet Cemetery and Bethlehem Cemetery for the City of Pauls Valley. Caring for the grounds and honoring those laid to rest was not just a job to Steven-it was his passion and ministry.
Steven loved the San Francisco 49ers and, as a child, was a big fan of Star Wars. As an adult, he enjoyed climbing trees, playing video games, and spending quiet moments talking to God from his deer stand. He cherished simple comforts: his Grandma Gary's pumpkin roll, carrot cake, pot pie, cowboy cornbread, and anything smoked on the grill. He loved going to his grandma's house and treasured time spent with family.
Above all else, Steven loved his children and adored his sweet granddaughter, Elaina. Nothing brought him more joy than seeing his kids' faces light up after receiving a compliment-everything he did was for them. He never failed to make Christmas happen, no matter the circumstances.
Steven lived by strong values and passed them on to his family: never depend on others, be a leader and not a follower, work hard, practice forgiveness, be patient, stay humble, and move forward with grace. He believed in loving people and animals, thinking outside the box, and keeping an open mind.
Steven will be remembered for his stubborn determination, his generous heart, his faith, and his unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled in those he loved.
