Steven R. Dohn Sr., born Stephen Alan Bott, passed away at home on April 19, 2025.
He was born August 19, 1948, son of the late Kenneth W. and Betty J. (Howett) Bott. Family disintegration from parental health problems led to his adoption by the late Russell and Ruth Dohn, who raised him lovingly to adulthood. With their blessing, Steve was fortunate to reconnect with some of his birth family, particularly his birth mother before her death and his sister, JoAnne.
Steve was born with much potential: a musical talent, innate intelligence, and outgoing personality. Sadly, addiction dating from his military days destroyed his life, along with marriages, familial relationships, and ability to realize this potential, a fact that haunted him for his life. Steve was a 1967 graduate of York High. He spoke fondly of those high school years and proudly of his military years in Germany and U.S. Army Security Agency (ASA). In later years, was employed as a salesman for various businesses winning a top salesman award of a trip to Bermuda. He was also a self-employed entrepreneur.
Steve is survived by four children, Kevin M. Dohn, Kimberly M. Shue, Steven R. Dohn Jr., and Victoria A. Renda, all of York County. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and JoAnne Bott Anderson who supported him wholeheartedly as a loving sister.
There will be no services. John W. Keffer Funeral home is arranging burial at Indiantown Gap National cemetery.
