Steven DOMPIER Obituary

January 7, 1946 - February 29, 2024

Born January 7th, 1946, in Spokane, WA, to John and Marjorie Dompier. Steve passed away unexpectedly on February 29th, 2024. Steve was raised in Spokane, WA, and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. Steve's favorite holidays growing up were spent at Priest Lake, ID, camping and piloting/skiing behind the family's Higgins Runnabout; as well as adventures on his grandparents' ranch in Sheridan, WY. He proudly served in the US Navy and then moved on to study at UC Berkeley in the 70's, where he began his passion for building computers and creating software. Steve is known for his genius and innovation and for being one of the first to create programming for the personal computer. He created software companies including Island Graphics, where he made many friends and received world-wide recognition for his contributions to the computer industry. Steve loved to fly and obtained his pilot license as a teenager. He flew helicopters and planes and worked as an air traffic controller in the Navy as well as flew privately in the years after his service.

Steve married Eve, the love of his life, and after traveling the country, moved to Big Fork, MT, where they were partners in developing Eagle Bend West and have lived and enjoyed friends, food, drink and culture for the past 25 years.

Steve was a kind, loving, generous and playfully mischievous man with a wonderful sense of humor and a unique smile as if he knew something funny that you didn't. He will be dearly missed and forever loved and remembered by all who knew him.

Steve is survived by his wife, Eve Dompier, his sister, Jeannie (Dompier) and her husband John Cocks, and nieces and nephews Melissa, Michael, Matthew and Megan Cocks; Tim Dompier, Robert Dompier and Doug Dompier.
