Steven E. Farrow, born February 20, 1948, in West Frankfurt, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, on December 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife, Eydie, and their cherished dogs, Jack and Clover.
Steven spent his early childhood in West Frankfurt, Illinois, where his boundless energy and love for water made him the featured diver in a county aquatic exhibition at just three years old. At age six, his family relocated to Fox River Grove, Illinois. He graduated from Cary-Grove High School, excelling in athletics, particularly football. Following high school, Steven proudly served in the U.S. Army as an advanced medic stationed at an Army hospital in Okinawa, where he cared for critically wounded soldiers from Vietnam. This experience led to employment as an LPN which supported him while attending Northern Illinois University, earning his Bachelors in Science. He excelled in Business Marketing and applied his skills as a Sales Manager for a large paper company in Neenah, Wisconsin.
On September 28, 1985, Steven married Eydie (Marker) Farrow. They lived in Black Creek, Wisconsin, for 17 years before settling in the Shell Lake area in 2002. In retirement, Steven embraced his passions, including substitute teaching, property management, Cowboy Action Shooting, trap shooting, reading, travel, fun with family, friends and pets. He was deeply committed to environmental stewardship and was a proud advocate for equality.
Steven's sense of humor was legendary. Whether cheering up a stranger or enlivening a gathering with a joke or story, his wit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Especially during challenging times with his health, he used humor to uplift himself and others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Constance and Forrest Farrow; brothers John, Dan, and David Farrow; and daughter Lisa Farrow. He is survived by his wife Eydie; daughters Katherine (Joe) Naylor and Megan (Steven) Smith; grandchildren Eli, Milo, Payton, Gracie, Leo Gillis and Roma Schroeder; sisters Barbara (Ralph) Leonard and Cindy (Gary) Farrow; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
A celebration of Steven's life will be held on February 8, 2025, at the Shell Lake Community Center from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., with a service at 2:00 p.m. In honor of Steven's request, attendees are encouraged to share a joke or funny story to commemorate his memory. May his humor and kindness continue to bring joy to all who knew him.
