Steve served in the United States Army military during the Vietnam era and was a Cold War Veteran.
Steve loved traveling throughout America and Europe. He resided in Madison, WI for a few years before moving to Sparta where he began employment at Northern Engraving and also at Country Kitchen as a cook. Steve loved his work and the people he worked with. He was an accomplished artist, owning Eagle Enterprises. His art was his love. Steve tried to be a good father, being fair and just. May he rest in peace.
He is survived by his brother, Ken (Deon) Gehrt, devoted friend, John Bowen-Brazell, honorary son, Max Harvey, and daughter, Danielle Schuett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vaughn and Esther.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be posted when available. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
