Doris Yates passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at age 97. She was born on December 18,1927 in Poynette, Wisconsin to Gordon E. and Flossie M. (Newman) Hall. She was the third of 6 children in the family.

Doris was united in marriage to Glen C. Yates on February 14, 1946. Two children were born to that union, Linda and Glen.

After her children got older, Doris worked at Decomet in Sparta and then at Triple-P in Necedah until she retired in 1975. Although retired, Doris continued to volunteer at her winter residence in Texas and at the Senior Center in Tomah with her good friend Delia Duncan.

Doris spent many happy hours at the Senior Center playing Bingo. This gave her great pleasure.

Doris and Glen liked to travel. They took several trips to the Western states where they visited several National Parks including Death Valley, Glacier and Yellowstone amongst other places. They decided they would be Winter Texans and kept their travel trailer in an RV Park in Laferia Texas. Doris spent 34 years as a Winter Texan. It was there that her husband of nearly 50 years passed away.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Eldon and a brother Harold and her sister Virginia Skarda. She is survived by her son Glen A. Yates and daughter and son in law, Linda and Alan Kubly of Madison, Wisconsin, a brother Melvin Hall of Lufkin, Texas, a brother David Hall of Montello and nieces and nephews and grand and great grand nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say thank you to the staff at Touch of Home Assisted Living and to St. Croix Hospice for their kindness and caring.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.
