Steven was born on September 12, 1969, in
Aberdeen, SD. He was the son of Quentin and Beverly (Carda) Grosz. Steven grew up in Aberdeen and attended Aberdeen Central High School, graduating with the Class of 1988. He attended Northern State University and played baseball.
Baseball was a love of Steven's growing up. He was an Aberdeen Smitty, and if you knew Steve, you knew he was the only recipient of the Stan Markley pitching award two times. He also played amateur baseball.
Steven spent many years of friendship and love with Kellie Kolb. They first met in May of 1991 and spent many years enjoying being together before being united in marriage on June 10, 2016.
Steven worked for Lust, Credit Car, and Aberdeen TV and Appliance. He most recently worked for Johnson Brothers Distributing for over 20 years.
To his family, friends, and coworkers, Steve loved to hang out, share stories, make jokes, and laugh. He had a quick wit and a fun personality. He enjoyed being with cousins and friends at the Carda farm, Dick's pool for laughs, relaxation, and continual bantering and camping at New Evarts. "Uncle Bait" enjoyed joking with his nieces and nephews. He was especially close to nephews Spencer and Tanner, with whom he enjoyed hunting and fishing. You could always catch Steve on a stack of chairs in the garage watching the game on his big screen TV, waiting for friends or family to stop by.
Steve's love of family and friends was always obvious by the smile, handshake, hug, or smart remark he would greet with.
Left to cherish Steve's memory are his wife, Kellie Grosz of
Aberdeen, SD; stepson, Jordan Kolb of
Aberdeen, SD; mother, Beverly Grosz of
