Marilyn Claire Grosz passed away on July 11, 2025, at her home in Metairie, with her family by her side. Born August 28, 1942, in Monroe, North Carolina, Marilyn moved with her family to New Orleans shortly after the end of World War 2. At the age of 16, she met Fred Grosz on a blind date. They married on November 30, 1963.
Marilyn started work in the Drafting department of South Central Bell Telephone Company, after graduating from East Jefferson High School in 1960. In 1965, Marilyn and Fred had their first child, Kenneth William Grosz. Marilyn decided not to return to work in order to raise her son. In 1971, they had their daughter, Kristen Claire Grosz.
Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cross-stitch, reading her favorite Danielle Steele books, and gardening. She liked traveling with Fred to play golf and tennis, and later in life to Europe with friends and family. She will be remembered for her dry sense of humor and never holding back from telling you exactly what she was thinking.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Fred Grosz; her son Kenny Grosz (Beth) and daughter Kristen Grosz (David); her sister Karen Moore (Lee) and brother Bruce Cook (Linda); her grandchildren Morgan Grosz (Karl), Merritt Grosz (Ben), and Kenneth Grosz Jr. (Kaylee); and her great granddaughter Noah Claire Neuenhaus. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Bernard Cook and Claire Muriel Cook, and her brother-in-law, George Michael Grosz III.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Visiting Angels and Compassus Hospice for the care they provided to Marilyn. Also, a very special thank you to Rebecca Sadler, who did many kind things for Marilyn, including taking her blood on a weekly basis for her INR.
Memorial gifts may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
