Steven Victor Harmel

Steven Victor Harmel, age 64 of Plymouth, MN, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024 following a six-year journey with young-onset Alzheimer's Disease. Survived by his sisters Roxanne (Ted Davies Jr.) Cadle, Nancy (Blaine) Nelson; step siblings Barbara (Ken) Isham-Schopf, Steven Isham, Nancy Isham, Dellin (Laurie) Bakkum, Kristine (James) Kilian, Nancy Schmidt; nieces and nephews Kristin (Thomas Matros) Cadle, Brandon (Chelsea) Cadle, Brittany (Ryan) McGlennen, Taryn (John) Miles, and Ethan Nelson. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Lena Steen, and Victor and Rose Harmel; parents Joan and Vern Isham, and Robert and Bettye Harmel.
Steve was born in Brookings, South Dakota on October 26, 1959, and grew up in Plymouth, Minnesota. After graduating from Wayzata Senior High School, he started what would become a lifelong career at Wells Fargo. His first position involved working in the vault counting money, and for the majority of his career, Steve worked as a Systems Analyst.
Steve enjoyed reading, photography, painting, going for walks, and watching English Premier League soccer. He was very passionate about fishing and canoeing in the Boundary Waters and spending time with family and friends.
He will be forever remembered as a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. Steve was incredibly loving, kind, and generous and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Above all, he was always there for his family and friends.
Family expresses enormous gratitude to Steve's care team from Hospice of the Midwest and the staff at Sunrise of Edina for their amazing care, love, and compassion. Memorial Service Sunday, March 10, 2pm at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 5000 West 50th Street, Edina, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service. Memorials preferred to The Friends of the Boundary Waters or the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota.
