Obituary for Steven Ray Harris

Steven Ray Harris, 53, of Pampa, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Amarillo, with his beloved at his side. He was born on June 18, 1972, in Pampa at the old Highland General Hospital to Robert and Juanita Harris.

Steven was a 7 graduate of Pampa High School and attended college for several years. He later moved to California, where he met Mary Lou Nush through a friend. Their journey together led them back to Pampa from Sacramento, and they made Pampa their home since 2013.

A skilled general contractor, Steven worked on a variety of projects, including roofing, tile work, and sheetrock. He dedicated years to his craft and was highly regarded for his workmanship, until an injury prevented him from continuing the work he loved. Always naturally curious, Steven enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together-sometimes improving them, sometimes not-his inventive spirit often leading to creative messes for Mary Lou to handle.

Steven's love for music was evident, with country being his favorite, though his eclectic taste reflected every mood. He delighted in playfully teasing Mary Lou, and while he had a big heart for animals, he only tolerated her cats. Boisterous and outgoing, Steven was a friend to all, filling every room with his presence and warmth. He cherished time spent with his niece and nephew, always eager to share in their lives and laughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronnie Harris.

Steven is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary Lou Nush of Pampa; son, Sterling; a brother, Robert Harris and wife Mandy of Pampa; his sister, Coralene Harris-Kreyling of Pampa; and several nieces and nephews who will deeply miss his loving spirit and memorable antics.

Celebration of Life Memorial services are pending at this time. The family has entrusted Steven's cremation care to Winegeart Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Winegeart Funeral Home to assist with the expenses of Steven's memorial services.
