Steven Kent Henderson, Jr., age 49, passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2025. Born on July 2, 1976, in Seoul, South Korea, Steven was the beloved son of Steven Kent Henderson, Sr. and Debra Ann (née Maurer) Henderson.
Steven lived a life filled with passion, curiosity, and joy. His career as a software developer at Accenture was not just a job to him-it was a calling. He often said that his work never felt like work because it was what he truly loved. His fascination with computers started early and became a lifelong pursuit. He was known for his incredible technical mind and could spend hours rebuilding computers just for the fun of it.
A devoted Detroit Lions fan, Steven's enthusiasm for the team knew no bounds. Whether it was game day gear, football talk, or sharing every game with his partner, Kerry, Steven's Lions pride was evident. He accomplished his dream of seeing a Detroit Lions game in person. Sundays and Mondays were sacred, spent cheering on his team with excitement.
Steven and Kerry shared a beautiful life together, filled with laughter, travel, and endless adventures. They traveled to Las Vegas-one of their favorite getaways-and talked snowbirding there together in their retirement. They loved attending festivals, concerts, and comedy clubs, always making the most of their time together. Steven was deeply devoted to Kerry, spending nearly every moment by her side. He was even known to show up at Girls Nights, happily part of the fun and always making everyone laugh.
Steven also had a deep love for Harley-Davidson, the outdoors, and travel. He was an avid cornhole, Yahtzee, and Farkle player. He and Kerry explored near and far-taking a memorable fourteen-day European cruise, waking each day in a new country. During that trip, they became friends with another couple from Texas and later visited them at their home. Together with friends, Steven and Kerry also traveled to Punta Cana, where they went snorkeling and mud bogging. They visited breathtaking places like Santorini and Mykonos, which became his two favorite stops on the cruise. They also enjoyed relaxing getaways closer to home, including travels all over Michigan or romantic escapes to Sybaris Pool Suites in Illinois. No matter the destination, Steven always made sure there was a hot tub-his "happy place" where he could unwind completely.
Family meant everything to Steven. He cherished every visit, gathering, and shared moments with loved ones. His warmth, humor, and genuine nature made him a joy to be around.
An avid movie and TV enthusiast, Steven could talk about almost any show or film you could name. He also loved gaming-whether on PC or PS5-with favorites including World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, New World, Madden, and Dragon Age. Music was another of his passions, with playlists featuring everything from Hard Rock to country to Yelawolf and The Chainsmokers.
Steven found peace in long drives, often with Kerry by his side. He was always up for an adventure. Together, they'd cruise for hours, destination unknown, simply enjoying the music, conversation, and freedom of the open road. During those rides, Steven would sing beautiful songs and dedicate them to Kerry. Those drives captured his spirit perfectly-carefree, content, and full of life.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his quick wit, and his big heart. Steven was caring and affectionate, funny and delightfully goofy, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. He was truly a best friend to those lucky enough to know him.
Steven's legacy is one of joy, love, and genuine happiness. He was the kind of person who went to bed happy and somehow woke up even happier-a rare light in the world who will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
