Michael P. DaPrato

Michael Peter "Mike" DaPrato, age 69, of Sterling Heights, Michigan passed away suddenly November 1st, 2025, due to the onset of an unexpected illness. Born on January 9th, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan he was the beloved son of the late Peter Joseph and Georgia Ann DaPrato.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, sweet nature and helpful spirit. Despite cognitive challenges, he lived life with extreme optimism, positivity and quiet strength. He attended Lutz School for work experience through the Macomb Intermediate School District, where he proudly achieved the rank of Foreman in the CORE automotive maintenance and repair program. Mike had a lifelong love of tinkering-whether fixing something or taking it apart and sometimes to never getting it back together again.

He played baseball for many years with the Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation program for the mentally challenged, serving as a dedicated catcher. Mike also found joy in his favorite hobbies, model railroading, puzzle building, playing vintage arcade games, riding his snowmobile and John Deere Gator at the family's northern Michigan property.

A longtime member of the CRC Church of God in Clinton Township, Mike's unwavering faith guided him through life's journey.

He is survived by his brothers Kenneth (Ken) and Peter DaPrato, and his sister Denise McAtee (Jim). He is also survived by his beloved and cherished nieces and nephews, Katie Russo (Justin), Maria McAtee, James "Jimmy" McAtee, Mia Noelle & Vivianne Grace Russo.

A celebration service honoring Michael will be held Monday November 10th at the Italian Cultural Center, 43843 Romeo Plank Rd, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
