Steven James Howell Jr.

Steven James Howell, Jr died suddenly on March 22, 2024 from natural causes. He was 22 years old and only weeks away from graduating Oklahoma State University with degrees in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
Steven was born February 18, 2002 to Steve and Gayla Howell. As an only child with working parents, Steven spent many happy hours with his paternal grandparents, James and Nancy Howell. Whether he was with his parents as their only child, his Howell grandparents as their only grandchild who lived in Oklahoma City, or his maternal grandparents, Roy (Corky) and Melva Imler of Boise City, OK, Steven was loved and appreciated for the bright, engaged, computer-loving child that he was. And he returned their attention through his loyalty and love for them.
From each of his schools-Banner, Westminster, Yukon-Steven gained valuable experiences and made lasting friendships. He began Taekwondo training early and achieved a 4th degree blackbelt. He was a consummate cook, specializing in stromboli and spaghetti and meatballs which he made from scratch each Christmas. Steven was an avid reader, often spending hours in pleasure reading even as he pursued his demanding academic work, and he enjoyed gaming with friends. But it was Steven's interest in and his knowledge of all aspects of electronics that guided his studies and led him to be accepted into the Department of Defense SMART Scholarship Program where he worked summers and where he had expected to begin a full time career.

A service to celebrate Steven's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
