Born on the 24th of August, 1944, in Cherokee, IA, Steve was a vibrant soul whose legacy is marked by his passion for life, love for family, and service to his country.
Steve was born into the loving arms of his parents, Glenn Russel and Esther LaVanche (Stevenson) Huset, both of whom predeceased him. His youth was shared with his siblings, Glynn, Michael, and Teresa, who remained integral parts of his life until the very end.
A proud alumnus of Huron High School, Steve's potential was evident from his graduation in 1963. Subsequently, he served his nation with distinction at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. His military tenure instilled in him a discipline and respect that defined his later endeavors. Furthering his education at the National College of Business in Rapid City, Steve demonstrated an affinity for technology and began a successful career in computer programming with Denver Oil before eventually working as a program analyst for the State of South Dakota.
Steve's curiosity and zeal for life were evident in his wide array of hobbies. A talented individual, his love for music was expressed through playing the guitar, tuba, and piano, and he found joy in the rhythmic precision of tap dancing in his later years. A skilled painter with a keen eye for beauty, Steve's creations were as colorful and deep as his personality. He cherished the tranquility of fishing, immersing himself in nature's serenity, and reflecting on life's simpler moments. Steve was also committed member of the VFW.
Family and friends meant the world to Steve. He was immensely protective of his siblings and took every opportunity to foster deep connections with his many nieces and nephews. The bond he shared with loved ones was strengthened by his genuine interest in their wellbeing and his readiness to extend support whenever needed.
Steve is survived by his siblings, Glynn (Hap) Howle, Michael Huset, and Teresa (Charles) Semmler along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
