Steven J. Leffingwell, 82, of Mooreland passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center following a battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born September 18, 1942 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Clarence and Geneva (Hawkins) Leffingwell.
Steve was a 1960 graduate of Mooreland High School where he was a proud Bobcat and played basketball. He went on to graduate from Ball State University, earning his Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Steve retired from Delco Remy following 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer and was proud of having a hole-in-one at Tri County Golf Club. He also enjoyed racing, especially watching sprint cars. Steve could be seen most driving his golf cart around Mooreland alongside his wife, Babs. Steve was always kind but sometimes onery and loved being with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Barbara “Babs” (Glenn) Leffingwell; children, Shane J. “Sheila” Leffingwell and Lori Leffingwell (Gerald Ewing); grandchildren, Logan, Alyssa and Blake Yuenger; sister-in-law, Kathy (Danny) Morrison; brother-in-law, James Larry Glenn and Douglas Bruce (Rhonda) Glenn; nieces and nephews, Chris Morrison, Ronald (Carol) Glenn, Doug E. (Selina) Glenn, Mark (Lindsay) Glenn and Sarah (Dustin) Kidd and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Dana Leffingwell; father and mother-in-law, Elbert and Pearline Glenn and a nephew, Phil Glenn.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
