The Life and Legacy of a Great Man
Steven Allan Liddell Sr., known as Steve, was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 25, 1959. He was the second child born to Shelby and Lillian Liddell. He shared a loving bond with his older sister Shellise, and younger brother Shelby Jr.
Steve had a very gentle and loving spirit. He was a quiet child but had a lot to say when he spoke. He enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together again; and he had a love for electronics.
Steve attended W.E.B Dubois Elementary School, where he excelled academically, always bringing home good grades. He graduated in the Class of 1978 from Christian Fenger Academy. Immediately following high school, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Killeen, Texas.
Much like his father, Steve was a hardworking man, dedicated and reliable in all he did. He took pride in structure, being organized and being on time.
Steve later relocated from Chicago to Muskegon, Michigan, a place he was able to call home. He attended Teen Challenge alongside his lifelong best friend, Andre Dilworth. It was there his life changed for the better. Also, during that time Steve married his wife Wanda and they went on to share a loving union of 25 years. They also shared a common love for the Lord and their favorite place to vacation together was Sarasota, Florida.
Steve worked for CWC Textron as a foundry worker for 23 years. He was often regarded by his supervisor as a dedicated man and always a pleasure to work with. In 2021, he celebrated his retirement.
Steve was a friendly person, always well liked, a true lover of food and sports. He loved to watch Football, Basketball, Baseball and Boxing. He would always call and text everyone else who was watching the games. Steve always loved his cars; you could find him any day of the week at church or the car wash cleaning his red truck.
Steve was a proud father and a praying father. His children and grandchildren were dear to his heart, and he had a true love for each one of them.
A faithful man of God, Steve was gifted in his calling to teach the Word and to help others. He attended Rivers of Living Water Church and was ordained as an Elder under the leadership of Apostle Rodney and Prophetess Selena Stevenson. He served faithfully over the Media Ministry. He enjoyed Gospel Hip Hop music, and he surely loved his church family.
His favorite bible scripture was 2 Peter 1:3 "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue"
On October 31, 2022, with his family by his side, and in his own timing, Elder Steven Allan Liddell Sr. went home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his father Shelby Liddell Sr., mother Lillian Hart Liddell, brother Shelby Liddell Jr., and a lifelong best friend Andre Dilworth.
