Steven May Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Mar. 13, 2023.
Steven Jon May passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023, at the age of 66 after his short battle with cancer. Even though there was a big snowstorm, he was surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born on September 14, 1956 to Del and DelLois (nee Siegel) May in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Steve attended Salem Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in 1974. In 1981, he became a proud member of the Milwaukee Police Department where he faithfully served for 25 years. Then he pursued a second career working for Milwaukee County at General Mitchell International Airport. He was an incharge on the field maintenance team whose biggest responsibilities were cutting grass and snow plowing the runways. Steve also had his own snow plowing business for 35 years. How fitting that on the day he passed away it was the biggest snowfall of the season.
Steve was a jokester at heart. He was best known for his goofy phone and text pranks. Steve enjoyed watching old westerns and war movies. Cutting grass or plowing snow with his John Deere lawn tractor brought him great pleasure. Besides loving his family, Steve also loved dogs.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
Steve is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sarah (Schimming), daughter Miranda Wanta, son Andrew, granddaughter Lilly Rijos, stepmother Patricia May, sister Rhonda (James) Meidam, brother Brian (Kris) May and brother John (Tiffany) May along with loving nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life, which will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls, WI on Saturday, March 18th. A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., followed by a service and luncheon.
You are invited to make a donation to Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School's Tuition Assistance Program (Jackson, WI) or the Live Stream Ministry at Pilgrim Lutheran Church (Menomonee Falls, WI) in Steve's honor in place of sending flowers.
