Steven K. "George" Mead Sr., 64, of Roaring Branch, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at UPMC in Harrisburg. Born on June 19, 1961, in Blossburg, Steven Keith was the son of Beverly (Fulmer) Mead and the late Charles Mead. He attended Canton Area Schools and began his working years at the Foundry before becoming a dedicated truck driver for HRI in State College, a role he continued until his health no longer allowed.
Affectionately known as "George" by friends and family, Steven found true joy in the outdoors, especially fishing. He enjoyed a good game of poker or Skyjo and was an avid sports fan, cheering on NASCAR's Ernie Irvan and the Washington Redskins. A natural tinkerer, George could fix just about anything and took great pride in doing it right. His perfectionism showed in everything he touched. But above all, it was his family who meant the world to him-he was always there on the sidelines, proudly supporting his grandchildren at their games.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother; Beverly (Fulmer) Mead, children; Shelly (Lyle) Gleckner and Steven Jr. (Renee) Mead; granddaughters; Lauren Gleckner, Gracie Mead, Lexie Gleckner, Laney Gleckner, Lydia Mead, and Lakelyn Gleckner all of Roaring Branch, siblings; Diane Ruhl of Roaring Branch, Cathy (Tony) Cohick of Ogdensburg, and Terry (Brenda) Mead; sister-in-law; Bernadette Mead of Wellsboro, his first wife, Sheila Weimeyer, his dear friend; Ellen Avery-Gastrock all of Roaring Branch and his loyal canine companion; Lucki, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Steven was preceded in death by his father; Charles; brothers; Charles Jr., and Ronnie Mead and a nephew, Brett Cohick.
