Steven Meschke Obituary

Lakeville - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Steve on December 6, 2024, after a courageous 3-year 2-month battle with ALS. Steve was born on April 15, 1956, to Clifford and Marilyn Meschke. He grew up on the family farm where they milked and raised champion Holstein cattle.

As a child, Steve's fondest memories included showing cattle at the Minnesota State Fair with his Grandpa Ed, playing baseball, snowmobiling, and attending dances in the neighboring towns. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1974 and continued his education at Canby Technical in the Diesel Mechanic program.

Steve raised his family in Waseca and showed his boys his love for the outdoors. They were avid fishermen, in all seasons. He called the outdoors his "church," where he loved to hunt, fish, hike, or just sit around the campfire.

He worked for Mustang Gehl and later Cabela's, where he was a firearms expert and Gun Library Manager. When he moved to Lakeville, he began working for Fleet Farm using his customer service and firearms expert skills. Steve always worked hard, was the go-to guy, and was well respected by his peers and colleagues.

Steve is deeply missed by his sons Michael and Chris, daughter-in-law Nicole, granddaughters Calli, Hadley & Rylee, partner Julie, and many close friends.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Spring 2025. Steve bestowed his body to the University of Minnesota for education and research.

Memorials preferred to the ALS Society.
