Steve "Monk" Metko, Stockbridge, age 65, died Friday, April 16
th
, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born in Appleton, WI on January 1st, 1956 to the late Ed Metko and Lila Metko Fulcer. Steve thru his life, especially as child, was always moving, getting into or climbing on something. He had the nickname of Monkey as a child. He was always quite the dare devil with just about anything. He liked to socialize, tag along in a project of something or just to be involved. He loved to have some drinks and the night life. He has a passion for motorcycles, especially his 1988 Harley Davidson. It was his prized possession. He worked factory jobs most of his life, until a bike accident and medical issues after lead him into early retirement in his 50's. He might of gotten in trouble a time or two as a little fella with his brother Greg, but most likely blamed Greg. He had a special place in his heart for his older sisters. They would always try to uplift and encourage him to do good. He even roomed with sister Claudia twice, until they got sick of each other. LOL. He loved to hang out at local establishments to interact and have friendships. He spent a lot of time at Michiels Bar and Grill in Appleton along with many others over the years, including Bottoms Up.  He lived in the Appleton area up until 2014. He then moved to Stockbridge after the sudden passing of his roommate and best friend Chris. His sister Claudia brought him in. He met some new friends, while missing his other ones from Appleton. His favorite hangout was Beef's Tap, in which Beef became a close friend in his last 7 years. Steve or most knew him as "Monk", treasured friendships and a good time the most. He was a little rough around the edges, but a kind hearted soul deep down. With no kids of his own, he had a special place in his heart for all his nieces and nephews and was proud of their accomplishments.
Steve is survived by his siblings Jonna Mascarenas (Bruce) of Shawano, Sue Bretl (Appleton), Greg Metko (Kim) of Shawano, Joe Metko(Texas), and a step sister Barb Pennings (Wayne). He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, and close friends of Stockbridge and Appleton area.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister Claudia Metko, who went six weeks before him; and his best friend Chris Konetzke.
A celebration of life and social gathering will be held at Beef's Tap in Stockbridge, WI on Sunday, June 13
th
, 1:00-5:00.
Steve's family would like to thank St. Elizabeth Hospital for his care in his last few days of all they could do. Especially, nurse Dan. Also, his friends who were there for him in any time of need and loved him.
We love you Monk and will miss you. We cared and always will. Rest Easy and may God grant you peace.
