Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts & Sons Funeral Home - Foxborough on Jan. 7, 2026.
Steven Oliveira Morais of
Foxborough, MA passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Sunday, January 4, 2026 after a bravely fought battle with cancer. Steve leaves behind his wife, Rebecca, their 8-month-old daughter, Nora, and their beloved black lab, Nelly. He also leaves behind his father, Alfredo, of New Bedford, his mother, Maria, of Dartmouth, and his life-long "brother" Mark Godding, his wife Elizabeth, and their daughter, Steve's God-daughter, Charlotte of
Cranston, RI. Steve was born on January 12, 1993 at Saint Luke's Hospital in
New Bedford, MA. Steve attended Saint Anthony's Catholic School in New Bedford and later Dartmouth Public Schools and Rhode Island College.
Steve had the unique ability to make every person he spoke to feel like the most important person in the room. He could talk at length about his favorite things: his Portuguese descent, traveling - his favorite destination being Japan - coffee shops and restaurants to try, the Boston Celtics, and most recently, his pride and joy, his daughter, Nora. More often than not, however, Steve engrossed himself in other's interests which is how he made everyone feel so important. Steve knew no strangers; he would befriend waitresses (on occasion, hug them) and Uber drivers alike. Frequently, strangers would assume they knew him from someplace based on his genuineness and were surprised to find out that no, that was just Steve being Steve. Because of this, people flocked to Steve, and he was able to choose the luckiest of us to call his friends.
Steve lived a far too short but very full life. In his teens, he spent hours at Burgo's playing basketball and took his academics seriously while being an active member of DECA. In his twenties, Steve enjoyed going to music festivals and shows and travelled extensively, both nationally and internationally. Steve never found a food he didn't like and always found a way to immerse himself in the local culture. In conjunction with his outgoing personality, Steve could also be a homebody. He loved to spend time gaming, watching sports, or learning everything he could about niche topics such as how to best utilize credit card points for travel or how to make the perfect cup of coffee. He and Rebecca built a wonderfully full life together that focused on laughter, joy and spending time with the people whom they love. Rebecca and Nora will continue his legacy of kindness, compassion, curiosity, and openness.
A Catholic Mass will be held for Steve on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church in
Foxborough, MA followed by a burial at Rock Hill Cemetery in Foxborough. Visiting hours will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Steve's family to help cover funeral and daily living expenses in his absence. A GoFundMe is linked below.
