TOWNSEND: Steven Curtis Morse, 66, of West Townsend, MA- beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away suddenly but peacefully at home due to complications related to Parkinson's Disease on September 28, 2024.
Steve was born on September 12, 1958, in Concord, MA the son of the late Frederick & Janet Morse of Acton, MA. He is survived by Theresa "Tere" Morse, his loving wife of 42 years, their three children, and one grandchild: son Steven Morse and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Madden (New Boston, NH), son Terrence "TJ" Morse and daughter-in-law Marliese Kitchel-Morse (Warwick, RI), daughter Kathleen Benoit née Morse and son-in-law Matthew Benoit, and his newborn granddaughter Violet "Hi 5" Benoit (West Boylston, MA). Steve also leaves behind his sister Julie Morse Foran (Gainesville, FL), numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Steve's greatest joy was family. He loved Maine Family Vacation, Big Family Breakfast, and Family Fun Day. His pride in his wife and children was paramount. His love for them could be felt in the laughter that filled every meal and the fresh bouquets of roses for every event. He communicated with his sister daily, sharing Wordle scores and insuring they kept up to date on each other's lives. In addition to his love of family, Steve was a loyal New England Patriots fan, an avid John Deere enthusiast, and a weather aficionado.
Steve received his bachelor's degree in marine biology from the University of New England and went on to earn his master's in education from UMASS Fitchburg. For over 20 years he enjoyed his work as a science teacher at Fitchburg High School. Teaching allowed him to share his passion for herpetology, resulting in the creation of "Dinosaurs, Lizards, and Frogs, Oh My!" a new and highly popular science elective. As a Red Raider, he was proud to be the coach of the chess club, an ally of the LGBTQ+ population, and a mentor to teachers and students.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 11th from 4:30 to 6:30pm at Townsend Memorial Hall in the Great Hall, 272 Main St. Townsend, MA.
A Celebration of Life Brunch will be held on Saturday, October 12th from 11:00 to 3:00pm at The Manor in the Grecian Room, 42 West Boylston St, W. Boylston, MA. All are welcome to attend. At Steve's request, guests at the Celebration of Life should wear a Hawaiian shirt. If you wish, Steve's Hawaiian shirts will be available at the event to choose, wear and keep.
Steven C Morse will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family, friends, fellow teachers and students.
