Worcester – Steven J. Murphy, 66, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025 in the Webster Manor Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.
Steven is survived by two daughters, Deanna Murphy of Cory, NC and Rachael St. Germain of Worcester; two sisters, Sandra Hammond of Worcester and Karen Kowalewski of Leicester; a longtime close friend Darlene Devine of Worcester and his granddaughters, Ariana, Amiyah and Adriana St. Germain and many nieces and nephews.
Steven was born in Worcester, son of the late James B. Murphy and Jeanne H. (Rogers) Lucey and is also predeceased by a brother, James B. Murphy III.
Mr. Murphy graduated from South High School and worked for many years as a machinist with the former New England Knife Company.
Steven was a member of the Auburn Sportsman Club, and he was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was always up for a road trip to either Foxwoods or Twin Rivers and loved to spend time at various lakes and beaches with his granddaughters and family. Steven would always be there for family and friends to lend a helping hand with anything that needed to be done, he continuously went above and beyond for everyone.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Hospice of Western MA and the second-floor nursing staff at the Webster Manor, especially to his nurse Maryann for the unconditional love and compassion that was shown to Steven and his family.
A funeral will be held on Monday, November 17, at 11 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Services Memorial Chapel 33 Ward St. Worcester with burial to follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service. Steven had a love of flowers and plants and the family welcomes any arrangements to honor his life.
