Steven Robert Newborn

Steven Robert Newborn, affectionately known as "Steve", left this world on June 19, 2025, at the age of 56, in his beloved home, surrounded by the warmth and love that he so faithfully nurtured throughout his life. He was born on September 15, 1968, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Mr. James Larry Newborn, Sr. and Mrs. Carolyn Jeannette Clay.
Steve was a dedicated machine adjuster for many years, embodying the spirit of hardworking craftsmanship that resonated deeply within him. However, it was not just his profession that defined him; it was his loving, caring approach to life that truly captured the hearts of those who knew him. A man of God, Steve lived his life with unwavering faith, always prioritizing his family above all else.
Known for his light-hearted nature, he had a way of making everyone around him feel at ease. He brought laughter to every gathering, whether it was through his musical talent, sharing heartfelt melodies on his guitar, or through the baked goods (and potato salad) he meticulously crafted in his kitchen. His love for woodworking and gardening showcased not only his creativity and his hands-on approach to life.
Beyond his passions, Steve took the utmost pride in his role as a grandfather, cherishing the moments spent with his grandchildren. As we remember Steve, let us carry forward the legacy of love, care, and dedication he instilled in those he cherished, honoring his memory by nurturing our own connections and relationships with the same devotion he exemplified so beautifully.
Steve is preceded in death by his father-in-law, M.C. Smith, Sr. and mother-in-law, Charline Butler.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. James Larry Newborn, Sr. and Mrs. Carolyn Jeannette Clay Newborn; loving wife, Mrs. Rosemary "Penny" Newborn; son, Tyler (Raya) Newborn; daughter, Hannah (Grant) Key; granddaughters, Azzilee Ray Newborn, and Lakelynn Summer Key; grandson on the way, Thatcher James Newborn; brother, Jim Newborn; sisters, Melissa "Lisa" (Jimmy) Pharr, and Barbara Jean Reynolds; brothers-in-law, M.C. Jr. Smith, Earl Smith, and Vernon Pace; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 1:50 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church in Lithia Springs with Pastor Darrell Johns officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunrise Gardens of Memories in Douglasville, Georgia.

If you see my husband in heaven,
He won't be hard to find.

He wasn't famous in this world
Nor did any heroic deeds,
He was a strong, hardworking man,
Taking care of those in need.

Tell him I'm doing fine.
Let him know how much I miss him,
And I think of him most of the time.
You know he was my hero,
So will you give him a hug or two.
Tell him how much I love him,
and I'll be seeing him someday soon.
