Steven James Oelrich (5/17/1974 – 8/20/2024) – Father, Son, Brother, Teacher and Friend passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50.
The Son of Carol & Fred Oelrich, Steve grew up in Eagan and attended Burnsville Senior High School. Steve played both basketball and baseball in high school. He furthered his education at Saint John's University in Collegeville, MN – He continued to play basketball at Saint John's – He graduated with high honors from both Burnsville High School and Saint John's University. After graduation from SJU, Steve chose to continue his education at Saint Mary's University where he received his Master's Degree in Education.
Steve travelled the world teaching in multiple countries – including Barranquilla, Colombia and Dubai in the UAE. Locally, and most recently, he was a Science/Innovation Teacher at Presentation of Mary Catholic School.
Steve loved spending time with his children, teaching others, working in his garden and cheering on all Minnesota sports teams.
Steve was a caring and loving individual – Early on he established longtime friends that were kept close throughout his lifetime - He was funny, quick witted and was always able to make people laugh (surely all of you likely have a humorous story to share about your memories with Steve) – He definitely was "one of a kind" – He had a knack for creative story-telling and recalling small details from the past that to most people would go unnoticed.
Steve is survived by his Mother (Carol), Children (Ezra, Cielo and Isiah), Brother Mike (Lori), Nephews Nick, Jake and Zack – and many other extended family members & close friends – He is preceded in death by his Father, Fred Oelrich.
A Memorial Service/"Celebration of Life" is planned at Presentation of Mary Catholic Church, 1695 Kennard Street, Maplewood, MN – On Tuesday, September 10, 2024 - (9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Visitation, 10:00 Mass (luncheon to follow) - In lieu of flowers, please direct all memorials to "Steven J.
