Steven Ortiz Obituary

Steven Ortiz, age 51, passed away peacefully at home in Rockwall, Texas, on October 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving and devoted family, including his constant companion and tireless caregiver, his mother.

Born to Steve and Gloria Ortiz, Steven grew up with a deep love for family, music, and creativity. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Steve Ortiz, who passed away on December 4, 2022.

Steven had a remarkable spirit-gentle, kind, and thoughtful. He loved music, spent countless hours playing guitar, and was a talented artist. His creativity shone through in everything he did. Steven and his sister Stephanie shared a special bond, often watching horror movies together and laughing through even the scariest moments. Growing up, he affectionately viewed Laura as his "second mom," a testament to the closeness of their family.

Known for his subtle humor, Steven had perfected the eye roll, a signature expression that always made his family smile. Though soft-spoken, he had a way of getting his point across when it mattered most. He held strong opinions but always approached others with kindness and respect.

Steven cherished his lifelong friends from high school, keeping in close touch with them through the years. He celebrated their milestones and supported them through life's ups and downs, forming bonds that never faded. He also shared close relationships with his cousins, aunts and uncles who knew him as someone who gave love freely and received it in return.

Above all, Steven's family was the heart of his world. He is survived by his devoted mother, Gloria Ortiz; his sisters, Laura Garrett and her fiancé Todd Guinn, and Stephanie Waddle and her husband Steve; his nephews, Taylor Garrett and his wife Bryn, and their children Hunter, Everlee, and Kolton; and Zachary Garrett and his wife Karli, and his other constant companion-his beloved dog, Jackson "Jackie."

Steven's parting words, whether in person or at the end of a phone call were always the same-simple yet profound: "I love you." That phrase perfectly captured who he was-a man whose quiet strength, compassion, and love will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
