Gabriel Ortiz Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 10, 2025.
Gabriel Ilan Ortiz was born February 2, 2010, in Nassau Bay, Texas. He was 15 years old when he passed October 7, 2025.

Gabriel was a sophomore attending Dickinson High School. Freshman year was really when he decided that the medical field would be his chosen career path. Gabriel was currently taking medical terminology to further him on his path to the X-ray program. This year Gabriel had chosen to join HOSA: Health Occupations Students of America. Gabriel was in Honors English, which he had a love and hate relationship with. Gabriel was never really interested in sports until freshman year when he enrolled in weight lifting. His passion for weight training showed as he loved to mentor his classmates. He was working very hard to soon compete in power lifting. Not only was Gabriel a strong student and athlete he was also artistic and so creative. Every day his passion for art showed as his favorite thing to do was play with clay at home. He was so excited this year to be a student aid for a special needs art class. Everyone who knew Gabriel knew how kind and caring he was. Of course, Gabriel also enjoyed playing video games and listening to music. He was almost always wearing his Air Pods. He also loved reading anime books and enjoyed many anime series and movies. Gabriel had so many different achievements and interests but his biggest one was being a Bubba.

Gabriel is survived by his brothers: Xavier, Maverick, and Nathen, sisters: Lidia, Ciara, Helayna, and Lilliana, and his parents Nina and Rigoberto Lugo. He was deeply loved and cherished by so many more.

A memorial service will be held in Gabriel's honor on Sunday, October 12, 2025 starting at 11:00am (2001 Ball St., Galveston, TX 77550).
