Steven Mark Poston

Steven Mark Poston was born on February 4th, 1969 in Great Falls, Montana. Steve grew up in a military family where he lived in Florida, Virginia, and Massachusetts. He made lifelong friendships in all those places. Steve graduated from Milligan College with a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies and became an ordained minister in 1990. He then began his career in ministry at Fern Creek Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky where he served as the Youth Minister for 17 years. In 2007, Steve started a 14-year chapter in Liberty Township, Ohio at Center Pointe Christian Church where he held many roles including Youth Minister and Executive Pastor. In June of 2021, Steve became the Executive Pastor of Greenwood Christian Church in Greenwood, Indiana where he faithfully served until his passing on July 19th, 2025 after a hardfought battle with colon cancer.
While attending Milligan College, Steve met Jill Marie Taylor. He married his "Best Girl" on January 5th, 1991, and together they raised two amazing children, Caleb Thomas and Kathryn Elizabeth.
Steve's love of people and heart for Jesus led him on many adventures where he impacted countless lives locally and globally. Not only did he love sharing his faith, he had a passion for helping the local church develop a vision and plan to increase their Kingdom impact. He was a proud Facilitator and Coach with Intentional Churches. He also had a heart for missions and enjoyed traveling to encourage and support mission partners in Mexico, Jordan, Laos, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and many other locations.
Steve was a friend to all, loyal without condition and always ready to help. He listened not just with his ears, but with compassion, making everyone feel heard. His warm smile and intentionality were a reminder of the goodness still in the world.
Steve leaves a legacy of love in his wife, Jill, of 34 ½ years; his son, Caleb (Ali) Poston; his daughter, Kate (Trevor) Osborne, and was a proud Pops to Roland and Griffin. He was a faithful son to Barb Poston, and brother to Robert "Bob" Poston. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas "Tom" Poston.
The Poston Family is thankful for Steve's team, led by Dr. Raghavendra at Franciscan Health, Main Street Hospice, and Dr. Bruce Records for their unwavering dedication to his care.
Upon learning that he would not be present to support his grandchildren through their college years as he had envisioned, Steve expressed a heartfelt wish that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a 529 college savings fund to help provide for their future education.
