Steven Roberts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fisher Funeral Home - Denison on Feb. 10, 2026.
Steven Danford Roberts, Age 78, of Denison, Texas, passed away at home on February 5, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born on December 29, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, Steve lived in Iowa and Michigan before moving to Texas with family and settling into the DFW area. He worked for Napa Auto Parts, opening the brand-new score in McKinney, Texas, before taking a position with Collin County Public works. He worked many years for Collin County before enjoying a well-earned retirement. After retirement, he worked part time at Auto Zone to keep his hands busy and his automotive skills current. A man of many interests, Steve found joy on the open road whether it was on the Harley Davidson motorcycle or in one of his infamous Corvettes. He enjoyed sailing and taught his daughter how to rig a sail and get stuck (or is that unstuck) from a sandbar. Steve also played golf. He participated in numerous fundraising tournaments with friends and co-workers. He played with his daughter and friends at local courses. He wasn't a great golfer, but he always had an amazing time. Steve loved to tinker with cars. He owned a paint and body shop for a while and painted tractor trailers and numerous friends' automobiles. Steve rebuilt several engines and could always be counted on to lend a hand under a hood.

Steve was preceded in death by Danford Roberts- father, Kathryn Moore- mother, Timothy Roberts- brother, and Jason Roberts- son.

He is survived by his wife- Donna Roberts, daughter- Stephanie Cappel, and grandsons- Kellan and Camden Cappel. Steve lived a full and adventurous life. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his storytelling, and his larger-than-life presence that matched his personality. Steve's family would like to thank Birdie Hospice of Sherman for their care and our friends and family for your prayers and well wishes.

Date and time for a memorial celebration will be announced later.
