Steven M. Rogers, age 72, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital. He was born in Lorain and attended Black River High School where he set records in track and played football. After high school he joined the Air Force and served for 9 ½ years achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the military he loaded bombs in B52's during the Vietnam conflict taking part in several notable campaigns. After the military, Steve worked for USPS as a letter carrier. He was proud of his time in the Air Force and his work with the Postal Service. He enjoyed Classic cars, woodcarving and chainsaw carving, and home improvement projects. His joys in life were his grandkids and he enjoyed time with them. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Judy (nee Irelan), children Steven G. Rogers of Wellington, Patrick (Tina) Rogers of Mansfield, Christopher Ryan (Amber) Sparks of Elyria, Daniel (Alisha) Sparks of Amherst; grandchildren Travis Sparks, Christopher Cole Sparks, Matthew Rogers, Brooke Sparks, Grant, Rogers, Jason Rogers; siblings Ron (Mary) Rogers of California, Pam Rogers of Barberton. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ernestine Rogers, brother James Rogers. Family will receive friends Monday August 12, 2024, from 2:00 pm until the time of prayers at 4:30 pm. Private burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions my be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, www.secondharvestfoodbank.org.
