Steven Taylor "Steve" Rollins
July 30, 1969 – March 12, 2026
DEERFIELD, NH – Steven Taylor (Allen) Rollins, 56, a man who lived life at full throttle and left an indelible mark on every heart he touched, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Halifax Hospital in Daytona, Florida. Steve succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident during Bike Week-the very event he spent every winter anticipating. While his absence leaves a profound void, his family and friends find comfort in knowing he left this world exactly as he lived in it: riding free and chasing the horizon.
Steve was an unforgettable, and had a larger-than-life presence. It was often said that there wasn't a place he could go where he didn't already have a friend or leave with a dozen new ones. A natural leader who preferred the trenches to the office, Steve jokingly called himself a "dirt dummy," yet he was a brilliant businessman and a master of his craft. After graduating from Stratham Technical School, he honored his father's legacy at W. Rollins Excavation before building his own business: Deerfield Sand and Gravel, STAR Trucking, and Fabrication by STAR Co. His commitment to his community was further shown by his service as Public Works Director in Nottingham NH and his time as Road Agent in the town of Deerfield.
A true master builder, Steve's hands were rarely still. He took immense pride in the machines he built, most notably his babies the 79' Ford truck and his 65' Panhead Harley. In 2025, alongside his partner Jessica, he brought a long-held vision and dream to life by building "The Shop" bar. Hosting the first "Wrench Benders Howling Pit Party" and seeing that dream realized was one of his proudest moments.
To his son, Michael, Steve was more than a father; he was a mentor. Michael will always cherish the late-night shop talks, being able to stop in whenever he needed. The bike rides that Steve never declined, and the endless knowledge that Steve shared with him. Steve's greatest pride was telling Michael how proud he was of the man, husband, and father he had become-words Michael will carry close to his heart forever.
His younger son, Derek holds close to his heart the memories of seeing Steve's commitment and leadership during the annual truck and tractor pulls at the Deerfield Fairgrounds every fall. As they both shared a profound love for trucks and tractors. Their lives ran parallel in the work they did, building a bond rooted in grease, gears, and hard work.
Steve was rarely seen without his closest friends. He shared a lifelong bond and love of Ford trucks with his best friend since grade school, James "Jimmy" Richardson. Steve enjoyed working on things in and out of the shop with his right-hand man, employee and loyal friend of 20 years Dave Bolduc. His love of motorcycles bonded Michael "Mike" Blye and Jennifer Baillargeon. Whether they were wrenching on bikes at the shop or traveling to Bike Weeks with their partners, Jess and Jenn, they were more than friends.
Steve was also a gifted master storyteller, known for his vivid ability to weave a tale. Whether friends or family were swinging by the shop for a visit or a fix, the hours spent reminiscing about adventures and sharing humorous lessons learned along the way which usually included, Russell (Smedly) & Dan Simons and Gary (Sparky) Sanborn; became cherished traditions. Those shared stories and the laughter that filled his shop will always be treasured memories for everyone who knew him.
Steve is survived by his loving partner, Jessica Mugford. His sons, Michael Shepard, Daughter-in-Law Krysten, Derek Belanger; and McKaylee (Peanut) Younger whom he viewed as his daughter. He was grandfather to Mya, Max, & Tanner Shepard, and Ryder Brackett. He also leaves behind his mother Nellie Rollins and siblings, Christine Marquis, Faye Hammond, Dorothea (Dee Dee) Putnam, and Bruce Rollins. As well as his beloved fur-babies: Diesel, Abby, and Kitten. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Rollins Sr., and his brothers, Keith and Willis (Bud) Rollins Jr.
Steve Rollins worked hard, played harder, and loved hardest of all. He was a man who did anything for anyone at any hour. Though his engine has gone quiet, his spirit continues to howl.
We invite you to join us in honoring the life of a man who lived with his heart wide open and his throttle pinned.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Brewitt Funeral Home in Raymond. His funeral will remain private gathering.
Because Steve was a man of the outdoors, we must wait for the earth to soften before we can truly lay him to rest. His final resting place at the family cemetery will take place in mid-April.
As you all know, Steve wouldn't want us to stay quiet for long. To celebrate the incredible life he led, we will be doing a memorial ride followed by a celebration of life at his favorite spot, "The Shop" (35 Parade Road,
Deerfield, NH). Dates and times TBA, please follow the "Wrench Benders" Facebook page for more details as they become available.
A few special requests from the family:
- Wear your gear: Whether it's your favorite Harley leather or Ford apparel, please come dressed in the things Steve loved most.
- Let him hear you: On the day we celebrate, let those engines roar so loud he can hear them in heaven and smile down on all the people that he loved the most.
